Challenges and opportunities for pulmonary rehabilitation in the 21st century

All current surgical masks designed for metabolic protection of every medical and public personnel are designed based on the filtering mechanism. Filtering is essentially annoying: it prevents free breathing, creates a humid space near the face, and therefore the filter performance deteriorates rapidly. Meanwhile, most medical applications, from surgery and general medicine to field protection in areas where people are concentrated, do not require filtering.
