Acoustics is a branch of physics that deals with the study of mechanical waves in gases, liquids, and solids, as well as topics such as vibration, sound, ultrasound, and infrasound. A person working in the field of acoustics is a graduate physicist, while a person working in the field of acoustic technology may also be called a graduate physical engineer. The application of acoustics is present in most aspects of contemporary society, the most obvious being the audio and noise management industries.
